One97.com, Alumni.net tie up for extended database

New Delhi, July 10 The One97.company (www.one97.com), a people search and maps service on the Internet have announced that Infophil Inc. (www.alumni.net) an alumni contact database company, will provide the ability to search its databases through One97.com.

This will enable users to search 350,000 additional e-mail addresses of Indian users registered with Alumni.net, in addition to its own databases.

With the agreement, the total contacts searchable through One97.com are in excess of 3 millions, including half a million e-mail contacts.

"We are very pleased with this relationship with One97.com. They are a pioneer and a leader in the Indian People search space, with a focus to making people find other people. This fits very well with the value of Alumni.net of bringing friends togeth! er," said Mr. Eric Tomacruz, CEO, Alumni.net. “Alumni.net will work very closely with One97.com to bring the highest value possible to alumni of institutions in India”, he further added.

Rakesh Shukla, CEO, One97, remarked, “The Indian user has not had one of the very basic utilities on the Internet, to search for and establish contact with other people,” on the announcement of the relationship. “One97.com will soon be extend this service with the addition of 500,000 e-mail contacts,” he added.

“We do not want the consumers to restricted their ability to find contacts only from a desktop, and soon all our services will be available on WAP phones,” said Vijay Shekhar, COO, One97. “One97.com will soon announce the availability of more contact data on our People Search service, as we expand the service to cover more than 50 million contacts by the end of 2000,” mentioned Vijay Shekhar.
