Alumni.NET ModeratorPictured is the succulent Stapelia Gigantea blooming in the AACC greenhouse. It’s commonly referred to as a carrion plant, which is also known as a corpse flower. They emit an odor that smells like rotting flesh, and attract mostly scavenging flies and beetles as pollinators. Brave enough to experience the blooms yourself? The greenhouse will be open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this week. Thanks to the biology department for holding open hours for all of us to experience it, and thanks to biology lab staff for sharing the picture!
